 1. AS Biology Results 2002-2006

2. A-Level biology Results 2003-2006

3. Relation between GCSE science or biology grade and AS biology grade.
This table shows what AS grades were achieved by all our Y12 students in the last three years. There is a strong association between GCSE grade and AS grade. Students with an A* or A at GCSE usually do well at AS, but many students with a B or less at GCSE struggle with AS biology.

Moral: Everybody has to work hard in Y12, whatever your GCSE grade.

4. Relation between AS grade and final A-level grade
This table shows what final A-Level grades were achieved by all our Y13 students in the last two years. Not surprisingly there is a very strong association between AS grade and final A-level grade. It is very rare to change by more than one grade, and of those that do change grade from AS to A2, far more students go down than up. This reflects the greater demand of the A2 exams.

NB (1): This includes re-sits. Don't think that re-sits are a passport to better grades.
NB (2): Students getting an E or below at AS don't usually carry on to A2.

Moral: Work hard in Y12. What you get at AS is probably what you'll end up with at A-level.
